About Us
Naina Optics was established in 2014 and has been serving Bangalore for over 10 years. Under the leadership of Satya P Bharati, we have grown from a single store to a trusted name in premium eyewear in Bangalore's optical market.
We are located at No. 001, Centre Point, Residency Road, Bangalore – 560025, Karnataka. We are easily accessible by road and well-connected to MG Road and Brigade Road. Our store is open Monday through Sunday, 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
We stock a wide range of premium brands including Ray-Ban, Oakley, Crizal, Polaroid, Fastrack, Titan Eyeplus, Vogue Eyewear, and more. Our contact lens range includes Acuvue, FreshLook, and Bausch & Lomb. We regularly update our collection with the latest arrivals.
Currently, we operate from our physical store in Residency Road, Bangalore. We do accept enquiries via WhatsApp for product availability and pricing. For the best experience — especially for eyeglasses that require a prescription — we recommend visiting us in person for a proper fitting.
Sunglasses
The key is balance — choose frames that contrast your face shape. Oval faces suit almost any frame. Round faces look great with angular or square frames. Square faces are complemented by round or oval frames. Heart-shaped faces suit wider frames at the bottom. Our optical experts at Naina Optics will help you find the perfect match during your visit.
Polarized lenses contain a special filter that blocks horizontal light waves — the kind that cause glare from reflective surfaces like roads, water, and car bonnets. This dramatically reduces eye strain and improves visual comfort outdoors. Non-polarized lenses darken the scene but don't eliminate glare. For driving and outdoor activities in Bangalore, polarized is the better choice.
Yes, for most people. Ray-Ban uses high-quality glass or Polycarbonate lenses with genuine UV400 protection — meaning they block 99-100% of UVA and UVB rays. The frames are made to last for years. Cheaper alternatives may not offer the same UV protection, which matters for eye health. That said, we also carry excellent budget options from Polaroid that offer genuine UV protection at a lower price point.
Always store sunglasses in their case when not in use. Clean lenses with the microfibre cloth provided — never use your shirt or tissue. Rinse with water before wiping to avoid scratching dust particles across the lens. Avoid leaving sunglasses in a hot car (temperatures can warp frames). Do not place them face-down on surfaces. Regular gentle cleaning keeps lenses scratch-free and coatings intact.
Always look for UV400 protection — this means the lenses block all light rays with wavelengths up to 400 nanometres, covering both UVA and UVB rays. This is the gold standard for eye protection. Cheap fashion sunglasses often darken your vision without UV protection, which is actually worse for your eyes since dilated pupils let in more UV. All sunglasses at Naina Optics are UV400 certified.
Eyeglasses
We recommend a comprehensive eye test every 12 months, or sooner if you notice changes in your vision such as blurring, headaches, or eye strain. Children and teenagers may need more frequent checks as their eyes are still developing. Adults over 40 should pay attention to changes in near-vision, which can indicate the onset of presbyopia (the need for reading glasses).
Progressive lenses (also called no-line bifocals) provide a seamless transition between distance, intermediate, and near vision in a single lens. They're ideal for people over 40 who need correction at multiple distances. Unlike traditional bifocals, they have no visible line and look like regular lenses. If you find yourself removing your glasses to read, or constantly switching between two pairs, progressive lenses could be the solution.
Crizal lenses by Essilor feature multiple layers of protection in one lens: anti-reflection coating for clearer vision and reduced eye strain, scratch resistance, smudge resistance, water repellency, and UV protection with E-SPF 25 or higher. The Crizal Prevencia range adds specific blue light filtering. They stay cleaner longer and last significantly longer than standard lenses.
Consider your skin tone: warm tones (golden, olive) suit warm colours like brown, gold, and orange frames. Cool tones (pink, blue undertones) look great with black, silver, blue, or purple frames. For frames style: conservative professions often call for simple rectangular or oval frames in classic colours. If you want to express personality, bold acetate frames in bright colours or interesting patterns work well. Our team at Naina Optics can guide you through our full collection.
Contact Lenses
Always wash and dry your hands first. Place the lens on your index finger and check it forms a bowl shape (not a flower). Use your other hand to hold your upper eyelid, and with the middle finger of the inserting hand, pull down your lower eyelid. Look up and gently place the lens on your lower white of the eye, then look down to centre it. Blink gently. It may take a few tries — be patient. We offer a complimentary contact lens insertion tutorial with every first purchase.
It depends on the type: daily disposables (like Acuvue Oasys 1-Day) are discarded after each use — never sleep in them or reuse them. Bi-weekly lenses are replaced every two weeks. Monthly lenses last 30 days of wear (not 30 calendar days). Extended wear lenses approved for overnight use exist but require your eye doctor's guidance. Always follow the schedule — overwearing lenses increases the risk of infection.
Yes, when used correctly. Modern contact lenses are designed for comfortable daily wear. Key safety practices: never sleep in daily lenses, always use fresh solution (never top up old solution), replace the lens case every three months, never use tap water on lenses, and have regular annual eye checks. Contact lenses are not recommended during swimming. If you experience redness, pain, or blurry vision, remove the lens immediately and consult an eye specialist.
Daily lenses are worn once and discarded — no cleaning required, most hygienic, ideal for occasional wearers or those prone to allergies. Monthly lenses are more cost-effective for daily wearers but require a cleaning and storage routine each night. They also build up protein deposits over time. The right choice depends on your lifestyle and how often you wear them. Our optical team can help you decide.
Eye Health
The evidence is nuanced. Blue light from screens can contribute to digital eye strain (tired, dry, or blurry eyes after prolonged screen use), and may affect sleep quality if you use screens late at night. However, current research does not conclusively prove it causes permanent eye damage. Blue light filtering lenses like Crizal Prevencia are beneficial for reducing digital eye strain for heavy screen users. Good screen habits (the 20-20-20 rule) are equally important.
This is a common myth. Wearing glasses does not weaken your eyes. Glasses correct how light focuses on your retina — they don't change the muscles or structure of your eye. If your prescription seems to change over time, that is a natural progression of your underlying eye condition (such as myopia), not caused by wearing glasses. In fact, wearing the correct prescription reduces eye strain and helps your eyes work more comfortably.
Follow the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. Ensure your screen is about an arm's length away and positioned slightly below eye level. Reduce glare with anti-reflection coatings. Use blue light filtering glasses for long sessions. Blink consciously — screen use reduces blink rate, leading to dryness. Consider artificial tear eye drops if your eyes feel dry. Adequate ambient lighting also reduces screen contrast strain.
See an eye specialist immediately if you experience: sudden vision loss, flashes of light, new floaters (especially a shower of floaters), eye pain, or double vision. For routine care: children should have their first eye exam before school age, adults should have a check every 1-2 years, and those over 40 should go annually. If you have diabetes or a family history of glaucoma or macular degeneration, annual checks are essential.
